Do-it-yourself hut or wigwam for children
This structure does not have to resemble an Indian’s dwelling. The main thing is that its shape is preserved and it is safe to play inside. To prevent the structure from falling, it is necessary to follow the recommendations for its creation.
For a hut, you will need fabric, synthetic winterizer, edging tape, threads and plastic oilcloth. As supports, 3 beams 2 m long and 2 cm in diameter are suitable.
To make the wigwam look more elegant, it is advisable to take the fabric of two different colors.
Building a structure:
- Cut out the patterns from the plastic oilcloth. Using a marker, long ruler, or measuring tape, draw a triangle with a base 120 cm and sides 180 cm. Cut out the pattern.
- Pin the oilcloth model with needles to the fabric. Cut out the side of the wigwam in 2 pieces. Be sure to leave a 1,5-2 cm seam allowance.
- Cut out the base of the wigwam in 2 copies, from fabric and padding polyester. To fix the supports, you need to sew 3 pockets. Cut out 10 cm squares from the fabric.
- You will need piping ribbons for the ties. Cut 4 strips of them, 15 cm long and 8 cm wide.
- Sew 2 bases together, sew on pockets.
- Open the front door. To enter, make 2 cuts at the bottom, turn the edges with edging tape. Sew strings on top of the inside and outside of the wigwam so that the door can be rolled up and tied.
- Sew the sides and front together. There should be space at the top so that the sticks can be seen.
Slide the fabric over the sticks, tied at the top with ribbons. Secure the supports in the pockets.
