Dezaftan is a medical device designed to support the healing of mouth ulcers, thrush and minor wounds in the mouth, most often occurring as a result of wearing braces, poorly fitting dentures or after dental procedures. Dezaftan, thanks to its ingredients on the damaged surface of the oral mucosa, creates an invisible protective film that relieves pain and accelerates the healing of lesions and wounds on the surface of the mucosa.

Dezaftan – what is this drug?

Dezaftan is a gel for use in the mouth. The ingredients contained in it enable the healing of aphthas and support the regeneration process of the mucosa. Applying the gel to the aphthae creates a protective film that protects it from external factors. Thanks to this, the ulcer is not damaged, for example, when eating food or speaking. The preparation supports the process of regenerating irritation in the oral cavity.

Dezaftan owes its action to the ingredients it contains. These include:

  1. Dexapanthenol – is an alcohol analog of pantothenic acid, belonging to the group of vit. B. When it enters the body, it is transformed into pantothenic acid, which is one of the basic components of coenzyme A. It supports not only the epithelial regeneration process, but also improves the growth of hair and nails. It is used in the treatment of skin diseases, sinuses, nose, throat, hair and nails.
  2. Guma ksantanowa – it is used to create a homogeneous substance from two more components. It is considered one of the best natural thickeners, and at the same time it is rich in fiber and contains traces of fat.
  3. Panthenol – is a derivative of vitamin B5. The substance is absorbed deeply into the skin and transforms into pantothenic acid. Regenerates, soothes and moisturizes the skin. Thanks to it, the hydrolipid barrier of the epidermis is strengthened. In addition, it has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and preservative properties, which are especially helpful in treating canker sores.

Dezaftan – action

Dezaftan is an antiseptic drug, so it destroys bacteria, viruses and fungi. It has an anesthetic effect and is used to treat certain conditions in the mouth. Within a minute of applying the drug, the painful area is anesthetized.

When to use Dezaftan?

The preparation is primarily used to treat aphthae and diseases such as:

  1. thrush – is a white coating that appears on the oral mucosa. Thrush occurs in both adults and children. They are most often caused by Candida albicans yeasts. The cause of the appearance of thrush can be chronic drug use, malnutrition and weakness of the body. Sometimes they are a symptom of a fungal infection of the digestive system.
  2. aphthous stomatitis – is a common disorder of the oral mucosa. It may appear as a small or large aphotic ulcer, or as a herpes erosion. Little is known about the causes of the diseases, but the predisposing factors are, for example, gum damage, malnutrition and stress.
  3. oral injuries – the preparation is also used to treat injuries caused by wearing a dental appliance. It is also used in the treatment of various abrasions, irritations and inflammations, but a medical consultation is recommended before using the product in question. In addition, Dezaftan can also be used to treat injuries caused by a poorly fitted denture.

Dezaftan – application

Apply a small amount of gel (about 2 drops) to the diseased area of the mouth. You can use a gauze pad or a finger to do this, but don’t forget to disinfect it first. The activity should be repeated 3 times a day. In order for a protective film to form on the surface of the skin, do not touch the sick area after applying the preparation. Apply Dezaftan in spots.

Dezaftan – contraindications

The drug should not be used by people who are allergic to the ingredient or ingredients of the drug. If, after using the drug, disturbing symptoms appear, a specialist should be consulted. The drug does not contain alcohol, so it does not cause burning. Elderly people can also use Dezaftan.

How to recognize canker sores?

These are open ulcers usually in the form of erosions on the oral mucosa. Inflammation often appears in the place where the aphthae occurs – the symptom of which is enlarged lymph nodes. They most often appear on the gums and tongue, although they can also appear on the palate, cheeks or throat. The mouth ulcers are white or yellow in color and have a specific fibrous coating.

It is still difficult to determine the specific causes of canker sores. Experts believe that the factors that can cause erosions in the mouth are: tooth decay, allergies, stress, allergies and poor oral hygiene. What’s more, they can also appear during antibiotic therapy and allergies. Fortunately, canker sores heal quickly, and thanks to drugs such as Dezaftan, the healing process is even faster.

How to treat canker sores with home methods?

At home, canker sores can be treated with mouth rinses, e.g. with salted water or hydrogen peroxide. You can also use herbal infusions to rinse the mouth, e.g. with clove oil. During the treatment of aphthae, it is worth ensuring that the body has a sufficient amount of iron, folic acid and vitamin B12 – their deficiency promotes the formation of aphthae.

To alleviate the pain caused by aphthas, you can also use aloe vera – you can either apply aloe gel to the affected area or drink aloe vera drinks. Coconut oil is also helpful because it has antimicrobial properties and is also suitable for the preparation of a mouthwash. Another home remedy for treating canker sores is an apple cider vinegar rinse, but on contact with the wound it can cause pain in some.
