Description of the variety of raspberries “Ruby”

The variety was bred at the Institute of Horticulture of Siberia named after. M. A. Lisavenko. The Canby raspberry was taken as a parent plant. The resulting variety surpassed her in many respects.

Raspberry “Ruby” retains its beneficial properties when frozen

Raspberry bushes are medium-sized with powerful spreading shoots. There are practically no thorns on them. An adult plant reaches a height of 1,5−2 m. Leaves are light green, large, slightly wrinkled. The berry is large, from 3 to 5 g each, blunt-conical, with few seeds. It contains enough sugars, vitamins and acids. It tolerates transportation well, does not crumble from branches, has a high density and good taste, which cannot be said about the Canby variety. Berries are used both for fresh consumption and for processing, freezing.

The Rubinovaya raspberry variety is a high-yielding variety. At least 3-4 kg of berries are harvested from one bush. On an industrial scale, raspberries give an average of 80 c / ha.

Advantages and characteristics of the “Ruby” raspberry

According to the terms of fruiting, the variety belongs to the mid-late varieties. The first harvest ripens in early August. The berries ripen in waves, the fruiting period is extended. This allows you to harvest several crops in one season. Even in Siberia, 90% of the berries have time to ripen before frost.

Advantages of the variety:

  • good winter hardiness;
  • large yields;
  • high resistance to diseases and pests;
  • pronounced taste and aroma;
  • good transportability.

Shrub overwinters with minimal cover. Flower buds do not fall under spring frosts due to late fruiting. The yield of the bush is stable, which is important for the zone of risky farming. The berries are located not only at the tops of the shoots, but also along their entire length. In contrast to the parental form, raspberries of this variety are rarely affected by pests and diseases. It is resistant to raspberry weevil and mite. The berries do not rot on the bush or during transport.

If you are looking for raspberries that will consistently bear fruit in the conditions of the northern regions, then pay attention to the Rubinovaya variety. Try planting it on site to provide tasty, healthy berries for your family.
