Description of the apple tree “Golden Chinese”

Kitayka is the general name for low, 5-7 m, winter-hardy varieties of apple trees with rounded small fruits of a pleasant sweet and sour taste. The variety “Zolotaya early” was bred by IV Michurin. Trees begin to bear fruit as early as the 3rd year. The fruits ripen early, in mid-July – early August. The tree is beautiful in spring in white bloom and glows brightly with yellow apples in green foliage in summer. Its branches bend under the weight of the fruits, concentrated at the ends of the branches, and look like willow, hung with golden balls.

Golden-colored fruits of the “Kitayka” apple tree

Ripe apples become amber-yellow and so transparently poured that you can see the inside of the seeds at light. Juicy, fragrant, filled with vitamins and microelements, by the end of July they already ask for food. Despite the fact that the apples are small, weighing up to 30 g, the taste of jams, jellies, compotes, cider and liqueurs from this variety is beyond praise. Thanks to these golden fruits, baked goods acquire an appetizing appearance, special taste and aroma.

Semi-dwarf “Kitayki” with a spreading crown are used in landscape design as a hedge

This variety is not self-fertile, and pollinating trees must be planted next to it to obtain a harvest. Pear and white fill are best. The average yield is 50-100 kg per tree. Lives up to 70 years.

Ripe apples fall off quickly. At the very beginning of ripening, they must be removed and used within a week, otherwise they will lose their appearance and quality. The apple tree is not resistant to scab disease. Winter hardiness for the northern regions is insufficient.

How to plant and grow an apple tree “Golden Chinese”

The seedlings are placed at a distance of 6 m from each other in 1 x 1 x 8 m pits, which are filled with a mixture of compost from leaf soil, manure and sand. After planting, the trees are watered and mulched with organic matter.

An early Chinese woman loves:

  • sunny high places;
  • loamy or sandy loam soils;
  • drained soils – areas without stagnant groundwater.

Usually, a Chinese woman is planted in the spring before bud break, but you can do this in October. If this is a northern region, the apple tree is covered for the winter.

These trees are unpretentious and drought-resistant. It is necessary to regularly loosen the ground around them and remove weeds. Water as needed. They begin to feed the tree with complex fertilizers after 2-3 years. It is better to do this in the spring so that the apple tree grows well. After 2 years, cut off – cut off the lower shoots, remove abnormally growing and diseased branches, form a crown.

The graceful ranetka trees will decorate the garden, and the fruits will diversify the table with sweets of your own production.
