Daedaleopsis tricolor (Daedaleopsis tricolor) is a fungus of the Polypore family, belongs to the genus Daedaleopsis.

External Description

The fruiting bodies of Daedaleopsis tricolor are annuals and rarely grow singly. Most often they grow in small groups. Mushrooms are sessile, have a narrowed and slightly drawn base. They are flat in shape and thin in texture. There is often a tubercle at the base.

The cap of tricolor daedaleops is radially wrinkled, zonal, and initially has an ash-gray color. Its surface is bare, gradually acquires a chestnut color, may become purple-brown. Young specimens have a light edge.

The fruit body of the described species is even, rounded, sterile in the lower part, has a clearly visible outline. The pulp is hard texture. The fabrics are pale brown in color, very thin (no more than 3 mm).

The lamellar hymenophore is represented by branched thin plates, which initially have a yellow-cream or white color. Then they become pale brown-red. Sometimes they have a silver tint. In young mushrooms, when lightly touched, the hymenophore becomes brown.

Grebe season and habitat

Daedaleopsis tricolor (Daedaleopsis tricolor) can be found regularly, but not too often. It prefers to grow in a mild climate, on branches of deciduous trees and deadwood trunks.

Edibility

Inedible.

Similar types and differences from them

It looks like rough daedaleopsis (aka Daedaleopsis confragosa), but it is smaller. In addition, the described species is characterized by the fusion of fruiting bodies and their special arrangement. In the coloring of tricolor daedaleopsis, bright, saturated tones predominate. There is a clearer zoning. The hymenophore also looks different in the described species. Mature basidiomas do not have pores. The plates are more even, arranged regularly, regardless of the age of the fruiting body.
