Competent cultivation and care of cucumbers

To get a rich harvest, you need to know how to properly grow this variety. This can be done:

  • in the open field;
  • in greenhouse conditions.

You can plant seeds directly into the ground, without preparing seedlings. But to get an early harvest, you should still think about seedlings. Planting of the plant takes place at the end of May. For this, the earth must warm up to 14 degrees Celsius, and the threat of frost must be completely avoided.

The seeds are planted in the soil to a depth of 3 cm.Further, they must be immediately covered with a special film until the first branches germinate.

The first fruits begin to appear approximately 40 days after the seeds are planted in the ground. The first harvest begins at the end of June, and this process continues until September.

To obtain a good harvest, the Merenga variety requires standard care:

  • moderate watering;
  • permanent weed removal;
  • loosening the soil.

About 2 times per season, you can feed the plant with standard mineral fertilizers. This will increase the yield, and the fruits will be even more attractive and tasty.

Up to 10 kg of fruit can be harvested from one meter. This is considered a good yield among cucumbers, so this variety is ideal for home growing.

The only disadvantage of this variety is the inability to collect seed for the next year. That is why you will need to buy new seeds every year if you want to grow this type of cucumber on your site.
