Coronavirus. Can święconka be a source of COVID-19 infection?

Easter is ahead of us. Despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the current lockdown, some of us will not refuse to visit the church with Święconka at this time. Is it safe? Can COVID-19 be transferred from święconka to święconka? Here is what a virologist and microbiologist from the Medical University of Warsaw, Dr. hab. Tomasz Dzieiątkowski.

– I think we would have to lick those eggs or sausage. A human factor is needed for the transmission of the virus. The virus has no legs, no wings, so it will not jump from one food to another by itself, explains the virologist.

Can holy water be dangerous? – You should always be careful with holy water, because usually its microbiological purity is extremely low. Taking into account what is sometimes found in all fonts, the coronavirus is not likely to be found there, but quite a lot of fecal bacteria, yes – says Dr. Dziecitkowski.

Easter during COVID-19. Safety rules

We should all know perfectly well about the safety rules that apply to us. That is, keeping an appropriate distance, wearing masks, disinfecting and airing rooms. Is there anything else that can be done during Easter?

  1. Easter in a pandemic. How to spend it safely?

– As for the other rules, there is more than avoiding unnecessary contact and wearing face masks, we cannot do. And when preparing meals, remember about hand and food hygiene. If you are preparing a vegetable salad, it would be good to wash the vegetables and fruits beforehand. These are truisms, but it is worth remembering them – emphasizes Dr. Tomasz Dzieiątkowski.

Easter during COVID-19. Let’s not put our loved ones at risk

Earlier, Dr. hab. Piotr Rzymski, a biologist at the Medical University of Poznań.

– If we know that in the days preceding Christmas we had contact with an infected person, let us not underestimate it, let us not conceal it. Better to stay home. If we feel unclear, do not assume that it is a common cold – warned Dr. Rzym.

  1. Lockdown for Easter. How to safely spend Christmas at home?

The biologist pointed out not to make mistakes at Christmas, when not everyone was serious about signals about a possible threat.

– I know such situations from last year’s Christmas. One person ignored mild symptoms, as a result, half of the household contracted the coronavirus, and the oldest was hospitalized. Remorse and mutual grievances appeared. Remember that it is not possible to clearly distinguish COVID-19 from other respiratory diseases based on symptoms. Worse, we can spread the virus even when we are asymptomatic. Therefore, it is best to assume the worst and thus not put your loved ones at risk. It is an expression of concern for them and I think it will meet with understanding – said Dr. Rzymski.

Easter and the coronavirus. Can vaccinated people feel safe?

During Easter, unlike last Christmas, some people will be vaccinated. To a large extent, this applies to seniors, i.e. our grandparents. Will they therefore be able to afford to celebrate without fear? We asked prof. Włodzimierz Gut, a virologist.

  1. Third Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine – Caution or Necessity?

– Easter is a time of multi-generational meetings. So in this group there will be people who are reasonably protected, because you have to remember that there is no XNUMX% vaccine, and also unvaccinated people who can either get infected or be a source of infection. So you have to be reasonable. Even if children or grandchildren do not have COVID-19 symptoms, remember that we are infecting the day before symptoms appear – says a virologist from the National Institute of Public Health – National Institute of Hygiene.
