Cherry tomatoes: description

Cherry tomatoes were developed at the end of the last century in Israel. Despite the fact that such varieties appeared in Russia relatively recently, they are already very popular among gardeners in our country. The name of the species in translation from English means “cherry”. This is quite natural, because tomatoes are very similar to this berry.

There are quite a few varieties of this species, and not all of them look like cherries. For example, you can find cherry tomatoes with an oblong or pear-shaped shape, as well as an unusual bright yellow, purple and even striped color. But still, the varieties have one common feature – a rather compact size.

Cherry tomatoes are small in size

Cherry varieties differ not only in the shape of the fruit, but also in the structure of the ovary. On some bushes, tomatoes grow in clusters that resemble grapes. Other varieties bear fruit in small tassels or symmetrical long lashes.

Some gardeners mistakenly believe that cherry is grown only for decorative purposes. But this is absolutely not the case, because such tomatoes have an excellent taste and aroma. Moreover, they are universal, and they can be consumed both fresh and used for conservation. Moreover, small tomatoes contain twice as much vitamins and nutrients as regular large vegetables. And their taste is rich and very pleasant.
