Cherry Lyubskaya: grade

Cherry Lyubskaya: grade

Cherry “Lyubskaya” is a very popular variety of culture, bred by Russian breeders. It is in demand among summer residents due to its high yield rates.

The fruit variety we are considering is a 2,5-3 m tree with a spreading, but not very dense crown. The trunk is covered with dark bark with cracks, on the branches elongated, oval-like rich green leaves. During the flowering period, medium-sized cupped flowers are formed on the tree, gradually turning into ovaries.

Cherry “Lyubskaya” is famous for its large, sweet and sour fruits

Ripe fruits are large, very juicy, crimson in color. Inside the berry there is a bone, the pulp itself has a sweet and sour taste. The ripening period is from July to August, 2-3 years after planting.

The lifespan of a tree depends on the climatic conditions in which it is located: in the southern regions up to 25 years, in the middle lane – 10-15 years. Advantages of the variety:

  • The variety is decorative, therefore, it is excellent for the design of the site.
  • The height of the plant is small, due to which it is very convenient to harvest.
  • The collected berries are suitable for canning and making wine drinks and liqueurs.
  • Fruits contain a small amount of sugar and are enriched with useful elements.

The disadvantages include weak frost resistance and intolerance to high soil moisture.

Cherry variety “Lyubskaya”: planting and care

In order to get a harvest of this variety of cherries, you need to follow the following rules:

  1. Choose suitable planting material – trees no more than 2 years old are best suited. Check for damage to the plant.
  2. Plant your cherries in a windless, sunny spot in the spring. Also, the culture reacts favorably to loamy soil and sand and does not at all like groundwater lying close to the surface.
  3. Prepare planting holes 0,5 m deep by fertilizing the soil with organic fertilizers, take care of drainage.
  4. After planting the seedlings, carefully compact the soil around the tree trunk.

It is necessary to water the culture with strictly settled water or rainwater, since the water from the water supply system is too chlorinated for cherries. The infection per tree takes about 3 buckets.

It is important to mulch the soil around the trunk and strictly monitor the weeds, immediately getting rid of them

Cherry loves the mineral complex of fertilizers, so do not neglect them at least in the spring, during the awakening of the culture. Also, don’t forget about pruning old branches.

As you can see, the tree does not require increased attention to itself and, with the right attitude, will delight even the most inexperienced summer resident with the harvest.
