Cantabria competes for its best Tortilla

If there is something very ours, it is the potato omelette, known worldwide as the Spanish omelette.

From last day 8 until next October 26, the province of Cantabria, celebrates its first global contest. The First Tortilla Contest of Cantabria.

The city of Santander had already several editions accumulating successes of participation and the Cantabria Hospitality Business Association (AEHC), has decided to extend the contest to all the province.

Are presented 32 catering establishments, located in seven towns in the province, each one with their expertise and their desire to rise as the “best Cantabrian Tortilla” in each of the three categories that make up the contest.

In order for each establishment to unleash its creations, the organization has separated the sample into:

  • Traditional omelette.
  • Omelette With …
  • Creative Omelette.

At the end of the month we will know and meet the three winners of each of the specialties as well as the three runners-up and the three finalists (third parties), a prize for almost everyone, but surely the best recognition is that of the visitors of the municipalities and cities that during those days will offer these delicious delicacies.

Santander, Reinosa, Santoña, Torrelavega, Liencres, El Astillero, Boo de GuarnizoThey are already waiting for us to participate in the contest.

From the Sabu a la Vegana, to Acorn and Garnacha they will make us live and know the competing populations, and to focus on the city of Santander, we can design a route from el Machi al Faro without forgetting to go through Manila, The seaside resort of La Concha or days of the south.

The egg, the potato, the oil and the salt have their days in the interior and on the shores of the Cantabrian Sea, without forgetting the avant-garde, providing in each case the most innovative culinary fusions as a bacon mayonnaise and crunchy parmiggiano or simply filling it with the classics ham or chorizo.

There are no magic recipes, both a good product and the hand of the cook are essential when it comes to obtaining a delicious potato omelette.

The contest is sponsored by the Apartnership (AEHC) in couple with El Diario Montañés and has the support of the General Directorate of Tourism of the Government of Cantabria and the raw material supplier Anero.
