Cakes “Number” and “Letter” – absolute trends of 2018
 

Confectioners enthusiastically share photos of new cakes in the form of numbers and letters, the fashion for which has simply swept the confectionery world. Dates of birth, names, names of brands and companies, as well as the number of years passed – these cakes were unconditionally to everyone’s liking. 

The author of this fresh idea is a twenty-year-old confectioner from Israel, Adi Klinghofer. And although this kind of cakes were popular there for a long time, it was Adi’s page that gave the impetus to tell the world about these unusual cakes. 

Among the main features of cakes in the form of numbers, letters or short words performed by Adi is the clarity of the shapes – the symbols are easily recognized. And her cakes also look neat, bright and festive, it seems that every detail is in its place. 

 

The principle of the cake is clear to the layman: thin cakes, cut according to a certain stencil in the form of a letter or number, are connected with cream. 

2 cakes are used for the cake, and the cream is deposited using a pastry bag, squeezing out in the form of identical “drops”. 

On top of such a cake – a decor of fresh flowers, meringues, pasta – here confectioners are free to show their imagination. Cakes can be anything – honey, sand, biscuit, an indispensable condition – they must be thin. 

How to make a number cake

Ingredients for the dough:

  • 100 c. butter
  • 65 gr. powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 yolk
  • 280 c. flour
  • 75 gr. almond flour (or ground almonds)
  • 1 tsp no top salt

Ingredients for cream:

  • 500 gr. cream cheese
  • 100 ml. cream from 30%
  • 100 gr. powdered sugar

Preparation:

1. Let’s prepare the dough. Beat the butter and icing sugar. Add the egg and yolk in turn. Sift dry ingredients and mix until lumps appear. Leave the finished dough in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

2. Roll out the dough and cut out the numbers on a stencil. We put to bake for 12-15 minutes at 175C.

3. Prepare the cream. Put the cream out of a pastry bag and decorate the cake with berries, chocolate and dried flowers. Let’s soak. Enjoy your meal!
