The extra penis of a two-year-old has been completely amputated. Marcela Leal da Cruz, who was in charge of the operation, explained that the defect with which the baby was born was called difalia. It was first described in a report by a Swiss physician, Johannes Jacob Wecker, in 1609, who in his work dealt with a corpse belonging to a person suffering from this rare disease. Over the years, there have been only 100 such cases in history since the Swiss’s unusual discovery.

Difallia is a rare condition. Recently, two operations have been correcting it

Experts estimate that difalia affects one in five to six million boys. It is not known how it arises, but it is thought to happen randomly as the fetal genitals develop in the womb. According to the daily reports from the beginning of April, a boy in Uzbekistan, who had been affected by difalia, was recently operated on. Both of his penises were fully functional the child, thanks to two developed and functioning urethra that ran from the bladder, could urinate from two penises.

A boy from Uzbekistan underwent surgery in the country’s capital, Tashkent, at the age of seven. It is not known why doctors delayed the operation for so long, especially since the baby underwent an operation to create an anus shortly after birth (he was born without it).

As a result of the surgery, the left penis and urethra were removed, directing the entire stream of urine only to the right urethra in the left penis. The boy’s penises were connected by a common shaft.
