Boys who had a happy childhood make good husbands

What you need to know about your future spouse in order to create a strong family, scientists said.

Every woman dreams of a reliable, affectionate, loving and faithful husband. And it is imperative that he was also a good father. But how to understand if your chosen one will be like that? Scientists advise: learn more about his childhood. If it was happy, and the groom’s parents still love and respect each other, then, most likely, your union will be strong.

To prove this, Harvard scientists conducted a unique experiment that lasted for 78 years. All this time, they watched a large number of men from Boston – then they were still teenagers. The boys were regularly asked how they were living, they answered a series of questions. The specialists talked with the boys’ relatives and social educators to understand the atmosphere in which they grow up. Years passed and the men started their own families. It was then that it turned out that those who had a calm childhood and trusting relationships with their parents were happy in marriage.

“The influence of the past persists even in the elderly,” says researcher Robert Waldinger of Harvard Medical School. – A child with a happy childhood learns to manage his emotions, and this helps him in adulthood. This trait contributes to a strong and safe marriage. Now the participants of the experiment are already over 80. And they are still happy together.
