Relief from migraines

Running from stress

Stress is a great migraine helper, it can cause a headache. Scientific studies prove that the main benefit is the reduction in stress associated with the reduction of migraines.

In the fight against stress, the following methods are most effective: do not allow it to reach you, which can not always be done, and learn how to get rid of it very quickly. Most often, physical activity in connection with positive emotions helps to get rid of stress. These include doing your favorite sport, just running in nature, cooking, playing with children. Problems are usually called “headaches”, this does not mean that you need to run away from problems, but taking a break to properly find ways to solve the problem is the surest method. In the fight against stress, you can also choose any of the following methods.

Aromatherapy

Essential oils can indeed be true migraine saviors. A large number of different natural essential oils helps to get rid of headaches and aura symptoms – nausea, vomiting, nervousness, dizziness.

Helps relieve migraine and headache symptoms, relieve tension – Mygrastick, the effectiveness of which has been proven by clinical studies in the United States of America. Such a product can also be easily made at home on your own. Most often, such a roller ball stick is filled with peppermint and lavender essential oils, brought under the nose to inhale aromas. You can massage your temples and along the eyelids, carefully, avoiding contact with the eyes. The cooling sensation and wonderful scents help take your senses away from the pain.

Lavender essential oil is believed to contain potential sedatives that can help relax a stressed mind and muscles. It may also be helpful in relieving sleep problems. Peppermint oil helps to reduce muscle, joint and nerve pain, as well as toothache.

With a headache, the aromas of essential oils help – ylang-ylang, orchid, lemon balm, juniper. Basil essential oil helps to get rid of not only headaches, but also nausea, symptoms of neuralgia. Grapefruit essential oil reduces pain and spasms in the head and neck. Lemongrass essential oil also improves memory, helps to concentrate, increases concentration and eliminates the effects of overwork and lack of sleep.

Migraine attacks are relieved by essential oils – marjoram, chamomile, lemon, tulsi, sage, violet, geranium also lowers blood pressure. With dizziness, overwork, neuralgia, essential oils of rosemary and cloves are effective. Myrrh also softens the effects of stress and shock.

Massage therapy

It’s not the same as getting a relaxing massage that most people experience. In order to influence problem areas, it is necessary to perform clinical massage therapy. For this, trigger therapy, deep tissue massage and pain relief at pain points are most often practiced. Such therapy is used as a way to relax muscles, increase blood flow to “problem” areas.

With frequent migraines, the muscles tend to be tense most of the time, which reduces blood flow to that area of the body. With migraines, pain most often occurs in the back of the head, lower head and upper neck, and also passes to the eye sockets.

After the massage, it is recommended to take a hot bath with sea salt, medicinal herbs and essential oils or light an aromatic candle to stay relaxed for as long as possible.

Acupuncture

Long before Western medicine emerged and developed, traditional Chinese medicine offered acupuncture to migraine sufferers. However, you should not focus only on this method, the complex application of techniques most effectively copes with migraine.

Acupuncture temporarily relieves pain, sometimes even more than a typical massage. Don’t worry, the special needles are completely painless and superficial, anyone who’s had a migraine will not have a needle problem.

When performing this procedure, make sure that you feel comfortable and breathe deeply throughout the process, then slowly rise from the couch and drink plenty of water.

Always be selective when looking for an acupuncturist, but be especially careful when it comes to complex applications such as acupuncture and massage, make sure the doctor is properly licensed, and check patient reviews.

Nutrition and Diet

The foods we eat have a big impact on migraines, more precisely on their presence or absence. Certain rules in nutrition and diet really help to avoid triggers and use food as a medicine, and not vice versa.

Migraine triggers are individual for each of us, so avoid your personal triggers and this will be the key point. For many people, high sugar content in food and skipping meals cause migraines. When it comes to migraines, foods that affect inflammation (such as gluten) are usually avoided. A gluten-free diet is often helpful in relieving migraines.

Many migraine sufferers have been successful in combating migraines by going vegetarian/vegan, eating gluten-free foods and fresh juices.

Among the foods that can be used as medicines is ginger, which reduces inflammation. Ginger is a great ingredient in every meal, and ginger herbal tea is also a great way to unwind before bed.

Social support

Although technically not an alternative migraine therapy, it can be called spiritual. Social support is important for overall well-being with excruciating and debilitating migraines. Love and friendship can actually make you healthier, as many studies have shown.

In the event that you get sick, and migraine is a chronic disease, then actions speak louder than words. Even simple checks “who is a friend” and “who is an enemy” are evaluated. Especially in this support family and closest people are important.

Accept that you won’t be able to get rid of a migraine very quickly, you can only correctly and progressively get rid of its symptoms from your life, especially if you have a long-term migraine. Therefore, it can take weeks and even years for the people in your life to really understand and accept your condition and all the obstacles that come along with a migraine.

Animal therapy

Research has also shown that having friendly animals around helps improve physical and mental health.

Most often, such closest to us medical animals are dogs and cats. Touching their soft fur soothes and distracts from pain. I know from my own experience that quick games with dogs even allow you to forget about migraines, positive emotions cover the pain, and only after stopping for a while, you suddenly realize that the pain has disappeared.

Be healthy!
