Blackening obabok (Leccinellum crocipodium) photo and description

It has a fruiting body, including a spongy layer, more or less yellowish, light yellow. Leg of the fungus with scales arranged in longitudinal rows; the flesh turns red at the break, then blackens. Grows with oak, beech.

Known in Europe. Recorded in the Carpathians and the Caucasus.

The mushroom is edible.

It is used freshly prepared, dried and pickled.

Blackens when dry.
