Do you notice such flaws as forgotten keys, phone, appointment? Perhaps you see a familiar face but have trouble remembering the name? Memory impairment is a fairly common phenomenon, especially occurring over the age of 40. According to Ayurveda, memory function can be improved at any age. Consider the recommendations of traditional Indian medicine on this issue.
At least five days a week, take a 30-minute walk in the fresh air. Ayurveda also recommends performing 12 cycles of the Sun Salutation yogic complex of asanas. Add poses such as birch to your practice – this will increase blood flow to the brain.
Two pranayamas (yogic breathing exercises) – breathing with alternating nostrils and – stimulate the work of the left and right hemispheres, improving memory.
Memory, like a muscle, needs training. If you do not use it, then its function is weakened. Train your memory, for example, by learning new languages, learning poems, solving puzzles.
Ayurveda highlights the following foods needed to improve memory: sweet potatoes, spinach, oranges, carrots, milk, ghee, almonds, topical.
The accumulation of toxins (in the language of Ayurveda – “ama”) can cause a weakening of memory function. A five-day mono-diet on kitchari (stewed rice with mung bean) will give a cleansing effect. To make kitchari, rinse 1 cup basmati rice and 1 cup mung bean. Add rice, mung beans, a handful of chopped cilantro, 6 cups of water to a saucepan, bring to a boil. Cook in boiling water for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low, simmer with lid partially covered for 25-30 minutes. Consume kitchari with a teaspoon of ghee 3 times a day for 5 days.
Ayurvedic scriptures single out a separate category of herbs that improve memory. These plants include the following: (in translation means “improving memory”),. To make herbal tea, steep 1 teaspoon (a mixture of the above herbs) in 1 cup of hot water for 10 minutes. Strain, drink twice a day on an empty stomach.
