Auricularia densely hairy outside has a yellowish-olive-brown color, inside – a gray-violet or gray-reddish color, the upper part is shiny, and

the underside is hairy.

The cap, approximately grows to a diameter of about 14-16 cm, and a height of about 8-10 cm, and a thickness of only 1,5-2 mm.

The stem of the fungus is very small or completely absent.

The pulp of the fungus is gelatinous and cartilaginous. When a drought sets in, the fungus often dries up, and after the passage of rain, the fungus regains its consistency.

In Chinese medicine, wood ear is said to “revitalize the blood, detoxify, invigorate, hydrate and cleanse the intestines”.
