Ascocorine cilichnium is a fungus of the original form that grows on stumps and rotting or dead wood. Prefers deciduous trees. Distribution regions – Europe, North America.

Seasonality is from September to November.

It has a fruiting body of small (up to 1 cm) height, while at a young age the shape of the caps is spatulate, and then it becomes flat, with slightly curved edges. If the mushrooms grow closely, in groups, then the caps are slightly depressed.

The legs of all species of ascocorine cilichnium are small, slightly curved.

Conidia are purple, red, brown, sometimes with a purple or lilac tint.

The pulp of the ascocorine cilichnium is very dense, resembling jelly, and has no smell.

The fungus is inedible and is not eaten.
