Rabbit is a typical anancaste, that is, a pathological pedant. Anxious suspiciousness, fear of getting dirty, fear of thieves, scoundrels, over-accuracy, over-punctuality, exactingness, pangs of conscience … Do you recognize our hero?

Order is great, but sometimes it can go beyond the reasonable.

Anankast (from the ancient Greek “forced”) is a pathological pedant: a person suffering from obsessive states, an excessive tendency to doubt, preoccupation with details, excessive perfectionism and stubbornness.

The word «anancast» is derived from the name of the goddess of inevitability-fate Ananke. Anancast, living his fate and protecting himself from trouble, performs a lot of obsessive rituals, as if he were sacrificing to the goddess Ananka.

Accuracy is a worthy character trait, but in this case it becomes painful. If you care too much about every small detail, the overall view is lost, and as a result, there are already large losses. If you strive to take into account every little thing in making decisions, it is impossible to stop at any decision. Anancasts are not able to make a decision even when all the prerequisites for this exist. They strive to weigh everything to the last detail before starting to act and cannot exclude from consciousness any smallest possibility that can lead to better decisions.

A person with a healthy head would begin to think here, but anancast begins to use saving rituals instead. He believes that if you follow the protective ritual that helps him out several times, then this time everything will be fine.

There is a protective substitution: instead of taking care of something real, a person is afraid of the slightest violation of the ritual. He understands the absurdity of all his magical defenses, but without them he is even more afraid. The rituals distract and soothe him.

The main trouble of the anacast is that, scrupulously doing one thing, he completely forgets about other things. Hence the trouble, increased anxiety — and new magical rituals …

The severity of obsessive-compulsive (anankastic) disorders can vary quite a lot depending on the level of organization of a person’s personality. If such obsessions occur only in a situation of stress, they talk about accentuation, if they also appear in everyday, everyday life — this is already psychopathy.
