7 nutritional rules for happy centenarians

Dan Buettner is the author of The Blue Zones, in which he talks about the lives of people from the so-called “blue zones”, where the largest number of people who survived to 100 years are concentrated. He has just completed a new work, which will be called The Blue Zone Diet. In the book, the author tells in detail about the nutrition of the inhabitants of these very “blue zones”. Despite the fact that these zones are located on different continents, there are significant similarities in the diet of centenarians. Based on these traits, Dan Buettner provides the following tips for those looking to live to 100 and stay healthy, active and vigorous:

1. Food should be 95% plant-based (you can afford no more than one serving of meat, three servings of fish and three eggs per week).

2. Do not eat cow’s milk products.

3. Eat legumes daily.

4. Snack on nuts and whole fruits only.

5. Eat cereals only with fats and proteins.

6. Drink only water, tea, coffee or red wine.

7. If you want to allow yourself too much – please, but return without guilt to points 1-6.
