PSYchology

Even Socrates said: «The soul, like the body, with the help of practice can acquire the desired habits.» We are what we put our energy into, says business coach Diana Gottsman. Here are seven habits to develop.

1. Drink water

When you wake up, drink a glass of warm water. If the stomach allows, then with lemon — lemon juice contains vitamin C, which helps to lose weight, is good for digestion and cleanses the skin. It’s a good idea to have a bottle of water handy throughout the day to prevent dehydration.

2. Meditate

According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Medicine (USA), meditation calms, improves blood circulation and stimulates the brain. If you’re stressed at work or have a busy week ahead, try to spend at least 10 minutes a day meditating to help your brain slow down. It is better to meditate either in the morning to give yourself the right attitude for the whole day, or in a short break in the afternoon. Temporary detachment from the hustle and bustle of the outside world helps to refresh and better overcome psychological difficulties.

3. Use a diary

We can reduce our stress levels by organizing and planning our lives. To do this, a diary is useful, which helps you stick to your schedule, reminds you of upcoming tasks and how many important and necessary tasks you have already completed. With it, you will improve relations with colleagues: you will always remember who you need to congratulate on your birthday. The choice in stores is large, and you can choose a convenient and beautiful option for yourself.

4. Go in for sports or exercise

Physical activity not only burns calories, but also improves mood and increases energy levels. Activity of any intensity has a beneficial effect on the lungs, heart and joints. To start with, it’s helpful to get up and walk around your home or office.

Buy a fitness bracelet or install an app on your smartphone. There are devices on the market that remind you to get up and move around if you have been sitting for too long. Try to diversify your workouts — try Pilates, hit a punching bag, ride a bike or exercise bike. Find exercises that make you leave the gym feeling happy.

5. Keep a diary

Writing down your thoughts is a great way to relieve anxiety and stimulate your brain. The expression of feelings and experiences in writing gives a psychotherapeutic effect. What to write down? You can write about emotions, plans for the future, write down dreams.

Look in the mirror and say something uplifting to yourself that will make you smile.

Looking through old records, you can understand how justified the anxieties and worries turned out to be.

6. Smile

Don’t let a bad morning mood ruin your whole day. Look in the mirror and say something uplifting to yourself that will make you smile. A smile is contagious, infect yourself with a good mood.

7. Turn off all devices before bed

Looking at the screens of smartphones, computers and TVs, we strain our eyes and do not give the brain the rest it needs before going to bed. Instead, read a book, write something in a journal, or meditate. After taking a break from electronics, you will calm down, relax and sleep well.
