“Some products have the ability to keep the skin supple, smooth, and help with age-related skin changes,” says Nicholas Perricone, MD, board certified dermatologist.
Strawberries Strawberries contain more vitamin C per serving than an orange or grapefruit. Research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition shows that people who eat foods rich in vitamin C are less likely to develop wrinkles and age-related dry skin. Vitamin C kills free radicals that damage cells and break down collagen. For smooth skin, apply a strawberry mask once or twice a week, eat products containing vitamin C.
Olive oil The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of olive oil help to soften the skin. “The ancient Romans rubbed olive oil into the skin,” says Dr. Perricone, “using the oil externally, it makes the skin soft and radiant.” If you suffer from dry skin, then olive oil will be your indispensable assistant.
Green tea
A cup of green tea has more than just a calming effect. Green tea contains anti-inflammatory antioxidants. According to the University of Alabama at Birmingham, drinking green tea may reduce the risk of skin cancer.
Pumpkin Pumpkin owes its orange hue to carotenoids, wrinkle-fighting plant pigments that help neutralize free radicals. “Pumpkin is rich in vitamins C, E, and A, as well as powerful skin-clearing enzymes,” explains dermatologist Kenneth Beer. In addition, this vegetable helps to moisturize the skin.
