12 things in the house that have become outdated in the last 10 years

But we still use them quite often. Don’t throw it away!

Summing up the results of the decade: how our life has changed in everyday life by 2020. It turns out that many things now become obsolete so quickly that some of them did not even have time to buy, as they had already gone out of fashion.

Home phone

With the advent of cellular, the stationary apparatus held the defense for a long time. The tariffs were such that calls to landline numbers cost a pretty penny. Then wired internet appeared. The modems were connected again to the home telephone line. Now you can’t find modems anymore. And landline telephones remained only in offices and in the apartments of utterly conservative people. By the way, push-button telephones suffered almost the same fate. Now they can be seen infrequently, but they are still in demand among the older generation. Yes, and they buy them for children: if it breaks, then it’s not so pity.

Fun

It was once the only way to escape the heat. Now air conditioners appear in apartments more and more often, and the fan is no longer needed. And besides air conditioners, there are weather stations that can not only cool and heat the air, but also purify, humidify or dehumidify.

Music Center

Oh, this sign of prosperity, flashing lights and allowing you to listen to music even from cassettes, even from disks, even to turn on the radio. Now an ordinary laptop with speakers (or even without) easily replaces the music center. Or even a phone with a bluetooth speaker is a disco that is always with you.

Meat grinder

It is in many apartments, it lies somewhere next to the machine for seaming cans. However, nowadays you rarely meet a hostess who turns the minced meat herself. Firstly, you can buy ready-made, secondly, you can ask to grind a purchased piece of meat in a store, and thirdly, there is an electric meat grinder, in the end. True, it is bulky and takes up a lot of space, but if you bought it, don’t throw it away.

Food processor

It used to be a wow thing. And now there’s nowhere to put it, and there’s no reason: the blender, which is much more compact, took over the functions of the combine and the mixer. But we still remember how inconvenient it is to wash the numerous nozzles of the combine and the bowl with the lid: everything was clogged forever in the thread.

Outdoor thermometer

With the widespread use of the Internet, especially mobile, it has become meaningless to look at a thermometer outside the window. It’s easier to look at what the smartphone is showing there: it will indicate both the real temperature and how it feels. And the Ministry of Emergency Situations will always warn about extreme weather conditions – it will send a message to the phone.

Kettle on the stove

The situation here is twofold: on the one hand, few people use such kettles, because on the stove it will heat up much longer. On the other hand, whistling kettles are back in fashion, at least in regions where there is gas in the kitchens. This way it turns out to be much cheaper to heat water. But still, this is still more an exception than a rule.

Frankly, for the sake of fun (and beauty), some still keep alarm clocks at home, their roar is able to wake the dead. But more often we still use a smartphone: it wakes up gently, and it won’t lift the rest of the household into our ears. And if there is also a smart watch on hand, then the alarm clock will adjust to the desired sleep cycle to make it easier to get up.

Waffle maker

With this device, the situation is the same as with a kettle on the stove. On the one hand, it has long and hopelessly gone out of fashion. On the other hand, now in hardware stores there are waffle makers and nut makers, or even all in one device. But their popularity is still not the same as before: firstly, they get fat from waffles, and secondly, such a device takes up a lot of space in the kitchen.

Steam cooker and deep fryer

With the advent of the multicooker, many gadgets have become meaningless: a separate oven, a double boiler. The multicooker will save space and cook everything you need, without oil and at a given time, and keep the dish warm. In general, a godsend for those who love to cook and are concerned about healthy eating.

Bread machine

As it appeared, it went out of fashion. Who needs an extra bulky contraption in the kitchen? Knead the dough and manually is easy, and you can bake it in a slow cooker or oven. In addition, fresh bread is harmful to the stomach.

The washing machine is not a machine

Remember these monsters on manual control? They chewed and tore the linen, the roar was like from a tractor, and the linen had to be twisted through rubberized millstones. Now these are difficult to find even in villages, in houses without centralized water supply and sewage. There remained semi-automatic machines, where the centrifuge is separate, and the washing and rinsing water can be changed manually without problems.

Refrigerator to defrost

The No Frost technology initially aroused distrust. How so – won’t ice blocks form inside the freezer? How so – no need to defrost at least once every six months? That’s how. Refrigerators, which made all this fuss with pieces of ice, basins and rags unnecessary, are still not in every kitchen, but it is almost impossible to buy another one. And this is good.

By the way, maybe it’s time to change something?
