Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan
Traditional therapeutic uses
Main indications: symptoms related to menopause, hot flashes, night sweating, diabetes, hypertension, hot feeling in the bones, insomnia, feverishness, nervousness, chronic nephritis.
In Chinese energy, this preparation is used to nourish the Yin of the Kidneys and the Liver and to clarify the Empty Heat.
Associated symptoms : heat in the palms of the hands and soles of the feet, dry mouth and throat, thirst, red and dry tongue, little or no coating, fine and rapid pulse.
Dosage
As this preparation comes in different forms and strengths, it is important to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations. A tonic should be taken for three to six months. Can be used long term.

This preparation is widely used to treat symptoms associated with menopause: hot flashes, night sweating, insomnia. This is the formula Liu Wei Di Huang Wan to tone the Yin Liver and Kidneys, to which two plants have been added to calm the Empty Fire: theAnemarrhena and the cork tree of Love. the Yin being Empty, it cannot retain the Yang. He develops an internal hyperactivity: hot flashes, heat in the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet, sensation of heat in the bones, insomnia, restlessness, nervousness, night sweating.
History
This preparation is cited in the volume Zheng Yin Mai Zhi (Method, cause, pulse and treatment) written by famous doctor Qin Jing Ming in 1702.
Cons-indications
- Illnesses with Stagnation of Internal Fluids such as cough with profuse phlegm, ascites, edema.
- Emptiness of the Spleen and Stomach: nausea, poor appetite, watery or soft stools, tongue with a white and fatty coating.
