Yo-yo diets

Failed attempts

Not so long ago, British television showed a documentary that included shots from the lives of ordinary people who were faced with the “yo-yo” effect. The shots were impressive, because after the end of the diet, some people added 10 sizes in clothes! In general, the film is not very positive, because at the end it is indicated that it takes at least a year to restore and fix the weight. It must be remembered that such unsuccessful attempts occur in 80% of people who resort to diets for quick weight loss.

Interesting statistics

There is confirmed evidence that a woman changes her weight more than nine times in her entire adult life. 90% of women turn to weight loss with the help of a diet, and 80% of them get an undesirable result.

Scientists at one Pennsylvania State University conducted an experiment on mice. They were fed a low-calorie diet for three weeks, which resulted in the mice losing 15% of their weight. At the same time, they developed a stressful state, their behavior became more aggressive every day, when they were returned to their previous diet, they gained more weight than they lost.

What to do?

In order not to face the “yo-yo” effect, doctors and nutritionists recommend giving up alcohol and smoking, increasing your physical activity and starting to eat right.

A low calorie diet program is not the key to your success, but rather the opposite. The correct diet should have an optimal ratio of protein, fat and carbohydrates. Only in this case, the fight against excess weight will be justified by good results.

You also need to be wary of stressful situations. In this state, women most often violate their diet, overstep restrictions, consume a lot of sweet and flour products, as if “eating up” their grief.

Don’t get upset ahead of time. If you fell into the net of the yo-yo diet and did not get the desired result, then this is just an impetus to action! Try a smarter diet that’s low in fat and high in fiber. Don’t forget about exercise. If you adhere to all these recommendations, then after a short period of time you will still begin to lose weight.

After the end of the diet, you should not start eating “harmful” foods, because the lost pounds can return with a huge plus.
