The birth was very difficult, the woman had to do an emergency caesarean. And something went wrong …
Shelley Cowley and her husband George were expecting their second child. A girl was to be born. The perfect balance was obtained: the boy was already in the Cowley family. But when labor began, it became clear that Shelley would not be able to cope. I had to give her an emergency caesarean section. As a result of the operation, Rylan was born, a beautiful healthy girl. But my mother’s blood clot came off, and Shelley fell into a coma.
Jeremy said that then he was just numb with shock. The prognosis regarding Shelley’s condition was the most unfavorable. “Imagine, just that you were in seventh heaven, because the child was born. And then you fall to the ground from the news that your wife may die in four to five hours, ”he said.
The doctors did what they could. But Shelley’s condition did not change. Relatives could only pray for her. Which they did.
“The doctors seriously believed that Shelley would not live until morning,” recalls Jeremy.
Looking at the man’s grief, the doctors’ hearts broke. And then one of the nurses, Ashley Manus, came up with an idea: “We know that skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby is very beneficial for the baby. I thought: what if there is a feedback? Maybe, on the contrary, it also works? ” – she said.
Rylan at that time felt just fine. She was brought to her mother, entangled in tubes and wires from the life support apparatus, and laid on her chest. The girl liked it: she instantly fell asleep. The medics had to wake her up. Rylan burst into tears.
“They say they saw a splash on the readings when Rylan started crying,” Shelley recalls. The doctors realized that somewhere deeply Shelley still hears what is happening. She heard her daughter scream! The crying of children gave the mother the strength to fight. She realized that she was needed here on earth. Gradually, the woman began to come to her senses, and it was a real miracle.
A few days later, Shelley completely recovered. Her condition improved so much that she and her child were discharged home.
“I remember how I woke up. I looked at Rylan’s face and thought it was the most beautiful child in the world, ”says Shelley. She is sure that she and her daughter now have a special bond because of what happened.
Three years have passed since then. Both Shelley and Rylan are fine. “Just think, a year ago I was on the verge of death. And now I am holding my treasure in my hands, ”Shelley wrote on her page on the social network on her daughter’s first birthday.
And the video reminds the family of what they went through: the video was filmed during one of the very first meetings of Shelley with her daughter, when her mother had not yet quite come to her senses. Look how lovingly her husband strokes Shelley’s cheek. “She’s perfect,” Jeremy whispers to his wife, bringing his daughter closer to her.
