Wines are already studied at the University

Wine culture is part of our life, its processes, its image, tastes, smells … they have been part of works of art, literature, music, and even businesses.

For decades the wine tourism activity It has also grown considerably in our country, giving way to a new form of gastronomic leisure that has opened the door to innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship in many wineries.

Companies that Tastings and specialized courses in grapevine juice, have grown and little by little we see in the panorama of professional, technical and even university training different programs or modules to study it. 

The University of the Laguna de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is carrying out a very interesting training program to study wine from a sensory analysis of the element.

From January 14 to February 6, he will develop in the classrooms of the General Foundation of the University of La Laguna and in the facilities of the Tenerife Wine House, the module for sensory analysis of wine.

This program is part of the academic course of the degree in Wine Tourism Management taught by the University, and completed by the modules of:

  • Viticulture
  • Oenology
  • Wine tourism activities

The different academic sessions will be taught by prestigious professionals in the wine sector, oenologists and representatives of the different denominations of origin of the island’s wines.

Tastings and workshops guided by Juan Enrique de Luis Bravo (Winemaker) Y Juan Carlos Clementes (Chef) where he will expose his experience and knowledge at the service of the students to reel off and help discover how wine tasting can be considered a methodology object of measurement as well as a tool for interpreting sensations.

Wine sensory analysis methodology, which takes participants and wine lovers to a semi-professional perspective of tasting. It helps to perfect your sensory level in tasting by combining practical sessions with theoretical presentations.

The training action will be completed with the modules of “Development of wine tourism activity” which is still open its registration for all those who want to expand their knowledge in this matter.

The course is organized by the university itself within the Enotourism and Gastronomic Tourism classroom and the General Foundation of the University of La Laguna. and it is sponsored by the Government of the Canary Islands, the island councils, the Tenerife Tourism Agency, and Saborea Tenerife.
