Not a single summer salad is complete without cucumbers and tomatoes. The incredible aroma of fresh vegetables, herbs and spices – it is simply impossible to resist such a temptation. And is it really necessary? It turns out that there is an opinion that is needed. We decided to figure out if it is possible to eat cucumbers and tomatoes together, or is it better to chew them separately.

Tomatoes, entering the body, create an acidic environment. Cucumbers promote an alkaline environment. If these vegetables are eaten together, then slightly soluble salts are formed, which is dangerous for the kidneys: sooner or later, these salts are deposited in the kidneys in the form of stones. Liver problems can also occur.
Another problem: tomatoes contain ascorbic acid, which is an excellent source of vitamin C. But with the simultaneous use of vegetables, this vitamin will be “extinguished” by the ascorbinase contained in cucumbers, which is why the body will never receive its portion of vitamin C.
And finally: since only one of these two vegetables is normally digested, the other begins to decompose. As a result, a putrefactive environment is created in the intestines. Therefore, many complain of frequent gas formation, flatulence.
Again, this does not mean that cucumbers and tomatoes should not be eaten in a salad. First of all, it is necessary to listen to the body for those who have previously been diagnosed with problems with the gastrointestinal tract (the presence of oxalates, etc.). And, of course, maintain the water balance to avoid the formation of stones or sand.
