In hot weather, it is not uncommon to have a headache. This is due to physiological and meteorological reasons.

Large temperature variations can give a headache: this is due to vasodilation or vasoconstriction of the blood vessels. Heat is thus a trigger, just like stress or certain foods like chocolate can be. It activates the nerve endings present in the walls of the vessels that surround the brain and dilate the surrounding arteries.

Blood flow increases and causes inflammation, resulting in the familiar headache. Migraine sufferers are thus sensitive to heat because the heat dilates the vessels of the brain.  

Headaches can also be caused by a lack of hydration. A lack of water leads to poor functioning of the brain. As the heat increases the risk of dehydration, headaches are more frequent in the event of a heat wave.

If, despite good hydration and taking analgesics, the headache persists and is associated with other symptoms, think about the heat stroke and take the necessary measures. 

In case of heat and headache, place a cold compress on the forehead.

You can also use ice cubes wrapped in a towel and apply it on the temple, behind the neck or on the forehead.

It is also necessary to make sure to drink water regularly, cool but not ice cold, to settle in the shade and / or in a cool place, to take paracetamol and to rest. If symptoms persist or worsen, it is imperative to see a doctor.
