Why do Americans always eat corn for dinner?

You have probably seen in American films more than once how the whole family gathers together at a huge table and enjoys a dinner with corn dishes.

If we are confused by the variety of such delicacies, then for most Americans this is a familiar and traditional food. First, you need to understand why corn is so popular in the United States. It is believed that it was the Indians, the indigenous population of America, who turned this product into the main component of any dish. The fact is that the climate of the US Midwest is most favorable for the growth of corn, which is why the country still occupies a leading position in its yield.

Agree, it is much easier and more convenient to grow your own product than to import it from overseas. Unsurprisingly, corn has taken root well in the local cuisine too. Moreover, you can cook many dishes from it, from flat cakes to the most popular and favorite popcorn among children. By the way, in cinemas popcorn is usually poured with oil on top, from which the sweetness turns out to be incredibly high in calories. In addition, Americans love boiled corn, and they are ready to eat it at any time of the year. True, instead of the salt we are used to, they again prefer butter.

Do not forget about bread – the main attribute of any American dinner. However, instead of ordinary flour, corn flour is used in its preparation. All kinds of corn pies and casseroles are so popular among Americans that they have long been considered a traditional dish at any family lunch or dinner.

As you can see, American cuisine is far from our monotonous ideas. Yes, the population loves hamburgers and fatty foods, but in fact, American cuisine is multifaceted and rich. At any feast there is always a place for the traditional corn.
