In the Central Region, the first walk of a healthy baby can take place in the second week of a child’s life, that is, 3 – 5 days after discharge from the hospital. You should go outside only in good, calm weather.

The duration of the first walk can be no more than 15 minutes, every day you need to increase the time by 10-15 minutes, bringing the total duration to 3 hours.

If the baby was born premature and weak, as well as if the mother is feeling unwell, the walk should be postponed until the full recovery of strength and health.

Duration of walks in winter

In the cold season, the duration of a walk with a child up to 1 month should not be more than 2 hours. At first, it can be taken out to the glazed balcony for 10-15 minutes, increasing this time daily by 5-10 minutes.

You can walk with a newborn like this:

  • once a day, but not less than 2 hours;
  • 3 times, 30-40 min.

You should not go outside in strong winds and when the air temperature is below – 12⁰ С.

How much to walk with a newborn in summer

In the warm season and in good weather, you need to be outdoors as much as possible. Fresh air will help your child adapt to new conditions faster, and the sun will provide him with vitamin D.

Do not go outside during the hottest time and at temperatures above +30 ⁰С. The optimal time is before lunch and after 16 pm.

Walk with your baby in parks and squares, but not in direct sunlight. Cover the stroller with a gauze net, and cover the exposed parts of the newborn’s body with sunscreen.

When is the best time to walk: before or after feeding

In summer, you can walk without restrictions, since you can also feed a newborn on the street.

In winter, of course, you will have to return home for this. If the baby does not eat well, then fresh air will awaken the appetite and there will be no problems with feeding. It is necessary to take into account the needs of the child for food.

Walk with your baby in the fresh air, because he is so important for his health.
