Brazilian cuisine is a balanced symbiosis of Portuguese, Indian, French and African culinary trends and traditions. Each region of this country is unique in its own way, but the most typical is the cuisine of the state of Bahia.

Traditional Brazilian cuisine is based on a wide variety of fruits that are grown on its territory. Many dishes have survived to this day from the colonial past, but are nevertheless in demand among locals and tourists. What you should definitely try in Brazil?

Pato no tukupi is a typical dish for the country. It is a piece of duck cooked in a thick sauce with the addition of aromatic herbs. This is a very spicy baking dish, and it is contraindicated for people with digestive problems.

 

Shurasko is a famous dish consisting of pieces of beef skewered on a metal skewer, which are then fried on coals in the open air. Shurasco is eaten with a sauce of tomatoes, onions, peppers, vinegar, olive oil and salt.

Feijoada is a popular Rio dish. It is prepared from black beans, dried meat, smoked sausage, pork, garlic, pepper and bay leaf. Feijoada is served in a deep bowl with cassava flour or white rice.

Farof used to be a dish of the poor. But today farofu is eaten everywhere, regardless of financial wealth. There was no time for a dish for the poor, today farofa is not considered such. This hearty dish made from fried cassava flour can be found in many places in Brazil.

Rice with beans is always simple and affordable. Served as a side dish with other dishes or with a variety of local hot sauces.

Takako is the first Brazilian dish, a thick yellow soup with dry shrimp and garlic. It tastes very spicy. By the way, this soup is not very popular in some regions, and the recipe for its preparation may differ from the locality.

Karuru is salted shrimp with a hot sauce of red pepper and the Brazilian plant kiabu. Seafood is most often popular in the coastal regions of Brazil.

Jacaret is an exotic dish due to its rare ingredient – alligator meat. However, in Brazil this will surprise no one. The meat is fried or stewed to make it tender and fragrant.

For dessert in Brazil, pastel de nata, an egg cake topped with powdered sugar and cinnamon, and brigadeiros, truffles made of condensed milk, cocoa and butter, covered with a layer of chocolate, are popular in Brazil.

Popular drinks in Brazil include mate tea, an alcoholic drink of cachasa made from processed sugar cane alcohol, a cachaza cocktail with Caipirinha lemon juice, which is considered a symbol of the country, a drink for a hot day made from guarana fruits and, of course, Brazilian coffee, of which many varieties are prepared here.
