Any Russian folk tale is fraught with a hidden symbolic plan. At the same time, adults do not always understand what they are telling their child when they read another fable to him. Although even familiar to everyone from childhood, “Ryaba Chicken” and “Turnip” carry a great subtext.
The meaning of the fairy tale “Chicken Ryaba”
This is one of the first works of folklore that is read to babies. Therefore, it should prepare the child for the perception of information, which in the future will be received in writing.
Many Old Russian fairy tales have many lessons for children.
Philologists and psychologists see the following subtexts in “Ryaba Chicken”:
- biblical;
- family.
Let’s consider each in more detail.
In Russia, the egg has always been considered a symbol of the universe. The chicken took down the gold, which means eternal, paradise. After all, this metal does not rust, it is timeless. The main characters are the progenitors Adam and Eve, Ryaba is the Creator who created the universe, and the mouse resembles a tempting snake. When the grandfather and the woman lost paradise, they began to cry. Ryaba took pity on them and gave the old people a simple egg, which symbolizes the immortal peace that the Creator gave them.
Another interpretation is related to family relationships. The grandfather and the woman represent the spouses, and the golden egg is love that they do not cherish. Both spouses try to break it, and then they forget it on the shelf. The mouse plays the role of the last little thing that led to the final loss of love. The usual egg that spouses end up with is a habit to each other.
This work is fraught with an understanding of the following educational points:
- mutual assistance;
- reconciliation;
- hierarchy.
Let’s analyze the listed items in more detail.
The most important meaning that history has for children is the importance of cohesion. Indeed, individually, each of the characters will not be able to draw out a turnip, while together they easily coped with the task. This idea emphasizes the value of the family. The common work rallied the warring characters – a dog, a cat and a mouse. After all, in order to achieve a goal, you need to be able to forgive. Another lesson is understanding the importance of hierarchy. The tale clearly shows the place that each character occupies. All the heroes obey their grandfather and act harmoniously, thanks to which it turns out to pull out the turnip.
Reading to your baby at night, do not neglect simple Old Russian legends. After all, each of them hides useful information that our ancestors passed down through the generations.
