Preschool children are actively developing, acquiring new knowledge. Experts set their own criteria for what a child should be able to do at the age of 5. Particular attention is paid to his physical condition and psychological development. Parents are able to independently determine the achievements of the baby, it is enough to remember the basic norms for this age.

Psychology and emotional development of the child 

Preschoolers feel like adults, they understand a lot, are able to make demands and respond adequately to requests. Children know how to play on their own, they easily learn everything new.

At the age of 5, children are able to comply with the norms and rules of behavior in society. Those who behave differently are often judged. Parents and older relatives are considered to be the authority.

Children of preschool age have already formed a character, but it is easy to find a compromise with them. They either like the people around them or they don’t. They behave on equal terms with peers, start conversations, play. Girls during this period are emotionally stable, do not arrange hysterics, do not be capricious.

What boys and girls need to know at 5 years old

At this age, children have many interests and hobbies, parents can only guide and not overload them, otherwise the desire to study will disappear. By the age of 5, preschoolers have mastered:

  • numbers and count from 0 to 10;
  • simple geometric shapes;
  • letters and words;
  • colors and their shades;
  • days of the week, names of months and seasons.

Children can easily solve simple examples and problems of addition or subtraction within 2 units. Some read fluently, memorize poetry and retell what they hear. They name all seasons and months in order, describe objects, find a relationship between them, add puzzles, assemble complex constructors. In the stories, they use the necessary intonation, use all forms of words.

A child developed over the years must remember his name, surname, address. Do not confuse the meaning of the concepts “today”, “tomorrow”, “yesterday”. Some children already hold a pen or pencil well, master writing skills, draw lines in cells, sculpt from plasticine. Boys at this age are restless, but they show diligence, they are afraid to upset their parents.

Household skills are no longer limited to cleaning toys.

The child is able to independently tell the seller what he wants, water the flowers, feed the pets, wash his shoes after a walk, take a shower, tie or untie the laces.

Do not forget that the little “adult” still needs your help and support. Read with your child more often, take a walk, do not forget to praise for the right actions and punish for wrongdoing. Train yourself to be respectful to your elders.
