Washing a coat at home, in a washing machine

Washing a coat at home, in a washing machine

A coat is one of the must-have items of a woman’s wardrobe. Sometimes there is no way to dry-clean the item, and therefore the coat is washed at home, on its own. How not to spoil the thing and keep its appearance? This is what will be discussed in our article.

Washing your coat at home should be as delicate as possible.

Washing a coat at home: basic rules

Proper preparation of the garment reduces the risk of damage to a coat made of any material. Washing steps:

· It is necessary to unfasten or unfasten (if possible) all fur elements. If this does not work, then the coat must be dry-cleaned;

· When washing a thing in an automatic machine, you will need to unplug all buttons and decorative elements from it.

The home washing process also has a few general guidelines:

· Only use warm water. The temperature should not exceed +40 degrees;

· For washing wool or cashmere coats, it is recommended to use special detergents in gel form. You can also use baby shampoo;

· When washing a coat by hand, force cannot be used;

· Rinse the thing especially carefully. The water needs to be changed several times to avoid the appearance of soapy streaks;

· To dry the coat is best laid out on a horizontal surface, but it all depends on the fabric of the product. Summer coats can be dried by hanging them on a hanger.

· You can iron a slightly damp product. It is necessary to carefully iron the fabric through a layer of gauze and hang it to dry on a hanger;

Washing a coat in a washing machine

· Only a coat made of polyester fabrics can be machine washed without fear. This is one of the materials that allows this option for home washing;

· If the washing machine has a “hand wash” mode, then you need to use it. In the absence of such, the “delicate wash” mode is set, you need to set the temperature to +40. Sometimes the label states that washing is allowed only at +30. This must be taken into account;

· It is advisable to pack the thing in a special mesh bag to minimize the force of mechanical impact on the fabric;

· When using detergents, you need to choose powders for a specific color of the fabric;

· Fasten all types of fasteners before washing. The only exceptions are buttons – it is desirable to rip them off;

· To keep the garment soft, you can add hair conditioner instead of fabric softener.

If you are not confident in your abilities and are afraid to ruin the thing, then it is better to use dry cleaning services.
