Vulvitis

General description of the disease

This is an inflammatory process that occurs in the female external genital organs. The name of the disease comes from the word “vulva“. This term in medicine is called a group of the external genital organs of a woman. It includes: the pubis, the labia (large and small), the hymen (in girls), the Bartholin glands, the clitoris, the exit of the urethra, the vestibule of the vagina and the horseshoe-shaped venous plexus that captures the urinary canal.

Types of vulvitis

Many people think that vulvitis is a disease that affects only adult women. This opinion is erroneous. Vulvitis can affect both young girls and young or mature women. Depending on which female is sick, there are 2 types of vulvitis: primary and secondary.

  1. 1 Primary vulvitis develops mainly in young girls and in women in adulthood who have menopause. In girls, the appearance of vulvitis is explained by the fact that the skin is very delicate and there is still no necessary protective environment in the mucous membrane; in older women, vulvitis occurs due to problems with the pH environment, sometimes with dry skin, with the appearance of microcracks. In addition, the development of vulvitis in a child can provoke helminthiasis (especially oysters). In this case, all the symptoms of the disease are exacerbated at night, and at the time of sleep, the child may restlessly spin and grind his teeth.
  2. 2 Secondary vulvitis develops against the background of already present infectious diseases in the cervix and fallopian tubes, in the upper parts of the vagina.

The causes of vulvitis

Vulvitis can cause 2 kinds of reasons: natural and acquired character.

For natural reasons the development of vulvitis includes a warm and humid environment in which the external genital organs are constantly located; delicate skin in the intimate area, which contains a large number of plexuses of blood vessels, nerves and folds.

For reasons of an acquired nature should include the presence of infection (streptococci, Escherichia coli, staphylococci, fungi) – they do not cause specific vulvitis, but diphtheria bacillus, chlamydia, gonococci, Trichomonas and mycobacterium tuberculosis cause specific vulvitis.

Also, the disease can cause prolonged and self-prescribed intake of antibiotics, immunosuppressants, hormonal drugs, diabetes mellitus, malignant neoplasms of the female genital organs, cystitis, an allergic reaction to intimate hygiene products or lack of personal hygiene (especially on critical days).

In addition, vulvitis can occur due to trauma to the vulva while riding a bicycle, while riding a horse, or while engaging in self-pleasure. Thermal burns can also cause illness when douching with too hot water or when taking hot baths.

Long-term wearing of tight, synthetic underwear, wet swimsuit will also cause vulvitis. High humidity is a very favorable factor for the multiplication of various bacteria.

Vulvitis symptoms

This disease begins with the appearance of redness, swelling of the external genital organs of a woman, small erosions appear on the mucous membrane and on the skin, from which purulent discharge comes out, redness may also appear in the groin area. On palpation of the lymph nodes in the groin, it turns out that they are significantly increased in size. Patients report severe burning and itching, pain when urinating. General well-being is also disturbed: the temperature rises, constant weakness is felt, drowsiness and rapid fatigue are observed.

With infectious and fungal infections, an unpleasant odor is emitted from the vagina of women.

When vulvitis occurs against the background of E. coli infection from the vagina, discharge with a bad odor appears and has a yellow or green tint.

In the presence of a staphylococcal infection, the discharge becomes too thick and viscous, acquiring a yellowish tint.

Vulvitis course

Vulvitis can occur in 2 forms: acute and chronic.

RџSЂRё acute current all of the above symptoms appear quickly, painfully, and when chronic – all the signs are of a more erased character, bring less discomfort, but the disease is constantly exacerbated under the slightest favorable conditions and manifests itself in an acute form.

Useful products for vulvitis

With vulvitis, first of all, you need to restore the microflora in the intestines and in the vagina. Any fermented milk products will help with this, namely fermented baked milk, milk, kefir, milk, sour cream, whey, yogurt (must be without artificial fillers). These foods are rich in essential bifidobacteria.

To relieve the inflammatory process, the body needs to supply vitamins B, E, C, A.

Vitamins E and A can be obtained by eating broccoli, viburnum, spinach, sorrel, seaweed, sweet potatoes, dried apricots and prunes.

All citrus fruits, currants, strawberries, strawberries, sea buckthorn, green apples will help to replenish the deficiency of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) in the body.

Nuts, legumes, liver, mushrooms, garlic and cheese contain the most vitamin B.

In addition, for the rapid recovery of the body after vulvitis, useful substances are extremely necessary: zinc (found in large quantities in buckwheat, peas, pine nuts, oatmeal, goose, ram and turkey meat), magnesium (to obtain it, it will be enough to eat seafood and nuts) and calcium (in addition to fermented milk products, mustard in grains, barley porridge should be used).

In addition to all these recommendations, the body needs a large amount of fiber, which should be obtained from seasonal berries, vegetables and fruits.
