Turmeric tea – a detox drink with analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties

Ever since I learned about the tremendous benefits of turmeric (more on that here), I’ve been looking for easy ways to use it. In Indonesia (where I am now) and neighboring countries, turmeric is consumed daily. Here I learned a lot about her … Especially in the culinary school Bumbu Bali (which I recommend to visit to all tourists).

It turns out that turmeric root or powder can be added to soups, stews, smoothies and other drinks, and baked goods.

The spice does not have a pronounced taste and smell, but it has a very beautiful color (note: hands, after touching the cut root, remain orange for 2-3 days).

I decided to tell you about the recipe for turmeric tea, which is great to drink not only in hot countries, but also in severe frosty snowy evenings. This tea is excellent for cleansing the liver, it is a natural pain reliever and anti-inflammatory agent, for example, people suffering from ostearthritis experience significant relief from regular consumption of this tea. This tea also helps to fight obesity ?

Indonesia, among other things, is the world’s main producer and exporter of cloves, so I decided to try a recipe here that includes this spice as well.

Ingredients:

a small piece of turmeric root (or a teaspoon of powder), a piece of ginger root, a teaspoon of cloves, and a lemon.

Preparation

On a fine grater, grate the pure ginger and turmeric root. Cut the lemon into wedges. Put all the ingredients in a saucepan, pour in a liter of drinking water, bring to a boil. Then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Tea is ready!

You can drink it hot or cold, or add a healthy sweetener like stevia or honey.

Drink to your health!
