Gingerbread delicious town is being created in Transcarpathia for the second time. The exposition of sweet masterpieces is the main decoration of the gingerbread festival. The festival was held for the first time last year, and given the popularity of gingerbread confectionery, we decided to repeat. After all, both adults and children love to eat painted gingerbread.
The three days were so magical that it seemed as if Saint Nicholas had visited Uzhhorod earlier.
And they had a good holiday and did a good deed!
Gingerbread is a unique product that takes a lot of time and inspiration to make. And Transcarpathian craftswomen managed to surprise!
This year, the Transcarpathian Gingerbread Festival was officially held from December 14 to 16 at the Owl’s Nest Historical and Cultural Center.
Participants from different regions of Transcarpathia presented their products. Gingerbread animals and various attributes of the New Year and Christmas holidays were sold at the exhibition-fair. Gingerbread houses and temples could be seen in the festival town, which was built by 12 craftsmen during the month.
The gingerbread model of the Uzhhorod Exaltation of the Holy Cross Greek Catholic Cathedral stood out. By the way, it was the most expensive lot at a charity auction.
All buildings in the town were charitable lots. The most expensive one could be bought for 1000 hryvnias, the cheapest for 100 hryvnias. Christmas trees decorating a sweet town also cost 100 hryvnias. During the day, the festival visitors bought all the lots, two houses will even go with Tudor Kilar to Vienna!
Proceeds will be donated to the treatment of Uzhgorod Kristina Yaremchuk. By joint efforts, Transcarpathians collected 20577 hryvnias for the girl!
And the most gratifying thing is that now in the homes of several dozen families, wonderful symbols of the coming holidays delight the eye and excite the appetite!
If you are still looking for New Year and Christmas gifts, then give treats. Painted gingerbread boots, piglets, Christmas trees – and beautiful, and taste great!
And while you think and choose, get inspired by gingerbread, which was made and sold by volunteers who help the military, take care of homeless animals, and implement other interesting initiatives in Uzhgorod.
