Tourism, Gastronomy and sustainability meet in Xantar

Next Wednesday, a new edition of the International Gastronomic Tourism Fair, known as Lunch.

The event, held annually at the Expourense fairgrounds from the Galician city of Orense, will bring us five days of exhibition and especially gastronomy that will take place in a wide program of activities from January 31 to February 4.

In this new 2018 edition of Xantar, the country invited to the exhibition will be our neighbor Portugal and with him will travel all the culinary customs, which treasure it as an ideal place for the elaboration, for its products and its people.

It is a gastronomic event that unites tourism and gastronomy, as a proposal focused on the growing demand of the population around gastronomic tourism.

Along with the fair celebrations, the XIII International Meeting on Sustainable and Healthy Gastronomye, where the activities that frame it are aimed at both hospitality professionals as well as the general public, and seek to bet on a balanced diet based on quality products.

The show is again sponsored as in previous Xantar editions, by the Xunta de Galicia, the Ourense provincial council and the Orense council, as governmental entities, and taking into the figure of brands such as Estrella Galicia, Coren, April or Lisbon cafes to their main partners.

The program of gastronomic activities of Xantar 2018

In the wide program of activities that we will be able to see in this nineteenth edition of Xantar we will be able to see different conferences and professional meetings, as well as the traditional ones tastings and tastings, or illustrative workshops and showcookings.

This year we highlight three different environments, which are called by the organization of the event Gastronomic Classrooms:

  • The tasting room
  • The Wine Tunes
  • The Cheese tunnel.

As a culinary and gastronomic showcase, the event will recreate 15 restaurants with all the details and services, where they will offer an exclusive Lunch menu, with prices that will vary depending on the manufacturer, product and style between 14 and 30 euros.

Among these menus we highlight those of:

  • Flavors of Ourense: consisting of four winners of the Sabores de Ourense 2017 contest.
  • Vila de Cruces, with a cast of local culinary traditions based on Empanada, Rice and pancakes.
  • Concello de Maceda, with ham, fabas, kid and fried milk.
  • Taste Braga: with 4 Portuguese delicacies based on Cheese, broth, cod and Portuguese cuisine desserts
  • From the Azores, offering a representation of the Titanic’s dinner on the day of its sinking based on Oysters, Consommé, Salmon and Pigeon.
  • Province of Zamora, with Sweetbreads, Chickpeas, beef and cheese, among others …
  • Castilla y León, with a selection of Iberian sausages (salami, tenderloin, cured lion, chorizo ​​and cheese), lamb and Grandmother’s cake.
