She could not solve the problem of excess weight since childhood.
By the age of 39, Sharon Blakemore weighs a little over 75 kg and feels great. However, there was a time in her life when she simply could not find the right size clothes. Weight problems have haunted her since childhood. It got to the point that in a day Sharon could eat two full-fledged pies and seize it all with chips.
“When I was in school, I had to buy men’s uniform shirts. And when I was pregnant, I could not find a suitable size in any of the stores for expectant mothers. I had to dress in men’s sports stores, ”Sharon told Mirror.
Parents tried to somehow influence their daughter, but all attempts were in vain. “My mother worked as a pediatric nurse, so she tried to instill in me the habit of eating right, but I never listened to her and ate everything when she could not see.”
In addition to pies and chips, Sharon’s diet included takeaways, cookies, and other unhealthy snacks. As a result, the girl’s weight reached 240 kg, and the clothing size was 8XL. But that all changed in January 2011.
Sharon’s mother died of stomach cancer. Before her death, she literally begged her daughter to take up herself. “When she was dying, she said: ‘You really need to understand yourself. If not for us, do it at least for the children. ” Mom was very worried about me, as being overweight increases the risk of cancer, ”recalls Sharon.
The tragic event prompted the girl to take on herself. But there was a new blow ahead – after 18 months her father died of cancer. And he also urged Sharon to fight extra pounds.
“It’s been a little over a year since we lost our mother when my father fell ill. And then he told me: ‘You have already done well, but you must continue, as you promised it to your mother.’
At first, Sharon lost weight due to a great emotional shock. And by 2013, when she married Ian, the father of her two children, her weight had dropped to 120 kg. But she did not forget the promise she made to her dying parents. And she got down to business more seriously.
Now the active mom plays netball, goes to the gym three times a week, dances and eats only healthy meals prepared at home. The changes were not long in coming. Sharon lost another 40 kg. Doctors are sure that a woman can throw off more if she decides to have an operation to remove saggy skin, but she does not seek to go under the knife. “I would prefer to spend this money on memories with my children,” the woman says.
Sharon noted her achievements with a large tattoo on her body. At one time, some masters refused her because of her weight. “The promise I made to my parents was my motivation. And I am glad that I tried to fulfill it. But everything would not have worked out without the support of my husband. He helped me in this difficult task, and now he jokes that he has a new wife and that there is much more space in bed. “
