The XII City of Valladolid Pinchos and Tapas Contest arrives again during the month of November to continue creating gastronomic art within the reach of all audiences.

From the 7th to the 9th of November, chefs from all over Spain have an appointment in the most prestigious contest of those that refers to tapas or pintxos within the national culinary scene.

Not for nothing is it the only culinary event for the production of snacks and miniatures of national scope.

The event is global and can also be enjoyed by citizens and visitors of the city, thanks to the fact that the hospitality establishments they welcome foreign contestants as “godparents”, and of course local ones, in order to serve each one’s delicacies as if it were a “diamond”.

As in previous editions of the Pinchos and Tapas Contest City of Valladolid, The contest is open to active chefs from any establishment in the country serving tapas at their bar.

The previous selection of the tapas presented corresponded to the gastronomic delegates of each of the 17 Autonomous Communities, on which the different hotel associations in Spain had bet, as well as the winning proposals of the regional tapas competitions and that of any specialized chef of the bars of the country that considered it so, venturing to appear.

The grand finale of the contest awaits the Tapas Specialists of all the autonomous communities that have already presented their candidacies.

Characteristics and Awards of the Tapas Contest

The jury of the contest, will choose between the fifty of those chosen and after its preparation live, in a time not exceeding 25 minutes, of its cover or skewer.

The assessment will be carefully studied in the parameters of:

  • Ingredients
  • culinary concept
  • originality
  • appearance
  • coste
  • commercial viability

The chefs Víctor Martín, Juanjo Fernández París, Albar Hinojal, Jesús Sanabria and Manuel Armesto, together with Luis Cepeda, form the selection committee, which last October 12 evaluated the candidatures presented until choosing the 46 finalists.

The leader María Marte, from the Allard Club, She will be the president of the jury and will be in charge of delivering the € 6.000 cash prize to the winning creation. The runner-up tapas as well as the most traditional, the most avant-garde or the best tapas concept will also be recognized.

The place for the celebration is once again represented by the Millennium Dome, in the Plaza del Milenio in the city of Valladolid.
