Any mono-diets
A mono-diet is a food system in which the use of any one product is allowed for several days in a strictly limited amount. The most famous mono-diets are buckwheat, kefir, apple, chocolate, rice, cabbage. Lighter mono diets can be diluted with 1-2 additional foods.
Harm. It is believed that mono diets “grew” out of fasting days. So what was quite useful (or at least not harmful) for one day is categorically dangerous with long-term observance. Any mono-diet is not a priori balanced, because one selected product clearly cannot provide the body with all useful and necessary substances, trace elements and minerals. Plus, these diets tend to be low in calories. Yes, they often say that you can consume an authorized product in unlimited quantities, but, you must agree, you won’t eat a lot of buckwheat, and for example, the daily norm of kefir recommended by doctors is 2 glasses, you are unlikely to have enough energy taken from such a portion. Again, each mono-diet does its own unique harm and has contraindications: cottage cheese is prohibited for those who have problems with the kidneys and liver (because it overloads them with protein), the chocolate diet can lead to diabetes mellitus, cabbage – to exacerbate ulcers and to the appearance of diseases of the pancreas, buckwheat – to anemia (a condition characterized by a low content of hemoglobin or red blood cells in the blood), dizziness and general weakness.
Hormonal diet
Two basic rules work here: lowering the daily value of kilocalories and injections of human chorionic gonadotropin. The developers of the diet claim that this hormone helps burn fat and reduces hunger.
There is no scientific basis for this diet, therefore, deciding on it, you cannot fully assess the possible risks. It can be unambiguously asserted only that taking hormones can lead to the most sad consequences: after all, almost all processes in the body depend on them. Hormonal imbalance can lead to chronic diseases.
Low carb diets
The key principle is a strict limitation of the daily intake of carbohydrates (no more than 20 grams), respectively, with such a diet, in the absence of carbohydrates, from which the body primarily receives energy, it begins to burn fat. The most popular such diets are considered to be the Kremlin and Ducan’s diet (however, they are better classified as extreme types of low-carbohydrate diets, since when they are followed, a person simultaneously reduces carbohydrate intake and oversaturates the body with proteins).
Such diets are not balanced in the same way as mono diets, which means that our body again experiences a deficiency of important substances, for example, glucose, which affects intellectual abilities and reaction speed. In addition, food rich in fat and protein, but at the same time poor in carbohydrates, dehydrates the body.
Low-carb diets that are overly protein-rich put stress on the kidneys, liver, and cardiovascular system. The amount of “bad” cholesterol in the blood increases significantly, and the lack of fiber causes constipation.
Drinking diet
The diet is based on the fact that within 30 days you can eat only liquid food: juices, yoghurts, broths, kefir, fermented baked milk, coffee, tea, jelly, smoothies, compote, water (about 2 – 2,5 liters), milk, cream, fruit drink, cocoa, kvass, mineral water. It is believed that this diet has a cleansing effect: the first 10 days, the hollow organs are cleansed, the next 10 days – the dense organs, the remaining 10 days – the cleansing occurs at the cellular level.
Our body is used to perceiving something solid as a food intake, and liquid is a kind of concomitant, but not a self-sufficient breakfast, lunch or dinner. As a result, the body “is” under stress, so at first it tries in every possible way to preserve fat, which is laid down by nature as one of the tools for survival, taking energy from the muscles, as a result, muscle mass is lost and metabolism slows down. Digestion problems arise, if only because saliva is released when chewing, which starts the digestion process. In women, menstruation often disappears and there is a risk of anorexia. the body weaned from normal food and may reject it at first. Also, if such a diet is followed, those who are losing weight experience edema: metabolic disorders lead to the fact that the body cannot regulate the excretion of fluid, which regularly and in large volumes enters it, as a result, everything received remains in the body, and weight loss occurs due to splitting own fabrics.
Starvation
It is strictly forbidden to eat. If we are talking about dry fasting, then even liquid should not be consumed. If fasting is not so severe, then you can drink clean water … and only water. In the first days of fasting, for beginners, a one-time use of water with the addition of a small amount of honey is allowed. Losing weight extreme people are starving until the cherished numbers appear on the scales.
Such a diet threatens dehydration, the loss of important minerals that a person receives from food. As with liquid nutrition, metabolism slows down, muscle mass decreases, the body is literally clogged with toxins, the digestive system stops working normally, which leads to constipation, nausea and vomiting. If fasting is prolonged, it affects the hair, nails, teeth, skin. Immunity decreases, so a person becomes an easy prey for colds and other diseases.
And the most important test when following such a diet (as with liquid nutrition) is getting out of it. The body is weaned from food, from the fact that you need to work with it, and besides, it is exhausted. Eating large amounts of solid food abruptly, including meat and alcohol, can lead to a hospital bed.
As a result, you can lose weight on hunger, but at the same time you endanger your health (both during fasting and after), in addition, many note that extra pounds come back rather quickly, and the key reason for this is the slowed metabolism substances, the speed and normal operation of which may ultimately never be restored.
As for a one-day fast, you should know that your metabolism will return to normal only 3-4 days after this experiment.
Whether it is worth dieting is up to you. However, isn’t it better to change your eating habits and just start eating right ?!
