This is not only about sugary carbonated drinks, which, in our opinion, are excellent thirst quenchers. Even children drink water with carbon dioxide. Why are carbonated drinks harmful and why is it so difficult not to consume them?
The composition of carbonated drinks is presented on the labels and is not a secret for the consumer – dyes, chemical additives, stabilizers, acids, preservatives, carbon dioxide and water. Soda tickles the throat pleasantly and cool creates the illusion of thirst quenching, although in fact it only provokes it.
- Sugar
One glass of sweet soda contains 4 tablespoons of sugar. This is a severe blow to your liver and a sharp jump in insulin, which is inevitably followed by the production of dopamine, the excess of which in the body has a bad effect on the general condition. As a result – diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerosis and a number of other dangerous diseases.
There is carbonated water with sugar substitutes, but they are no more beneficial. Yes, in terms of calorie content, such drinks are lower, but the substitutes themselves, presented in huge quantities in soda, harm the liver and kidneys, causing complications and addiction, provoking life-threatening diseases.
- Acid
Preservatives, including those necessary for taste, destroy the enamel. Citric and orthophosphoric acids are washed off with saliva within a few hours, and no one will brush their teeth after each sip of fizzy. Phosphoric acid actively flushes out calcium, which threatens fragility of bones and skeletal deformities in children.
- Caffeine
Caffeinated carbonated drinks are invigorating, and this substance is added to almost all fizzy drinks, regardless of taste. But since the effect of caffeine quickly ends, a new “dose” is required – and you do not notice how you drink one bottle after another. As a result, by the evening you feel tired and overwhelmed, insomnia and depression appear.
- Benzene
Benzene is a hydrocarbon that gives “natural” aromas to the beverage by combining it with other chemical ingredients. The result is a carcinogen that threatens cancer and mental disorders.
- Carbon dioxide
Without carbon dioxide, a carbonated drink is impossible, which is loved for its fizzy and pleasant effect of exploding bubbles. By itself, carbon dioxide is safe for humans, but in contact with water it is a threat. A reaction occurs, as a result of which carbonic acid is formed, burning the delicate mucous membrane of the stomach and intestines, causing bloating, pain, ulceration, and stagnation of toxins.
- Mineral water
Water saturated with mineral salts is considered healthy. Yes, but an ordinary healthy person does not need it, and with certain problems, mineral water should be used for medicinal purposes, and not to quench his thirst.
On hot days, choose plain water or make homemade lemonade.
