Symptoms of hepatitis B

There may be no symptoms, especially in children less than 5 years old and in people who are immunosuppressed. When there are symptoms, they occur 6 weeks to 6 months after the virus has infected the liver. We notice :

  • Tiredness
  • Decreased appetite
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Abdominal pain
  • Fever
  • Jaundice
  • Very dark urine
  • Pale stools
  • Joint pain

Fatigue and loss of appetite usually occur two weeks before jaundice, which is not always present.
