Spring Detox – 9 Steps

“Spring Detox” is a popular method of general recovery all over the world. It is no secret that our behavior is subject to seasonal changes, and most people in winter lead a less active lifestyle, eat more, including junk food.

Symptoms that indicate the accumulation of toxins in the body in an amount indicating the need for a detox: • Constant fatigue, lethargy, fatigue; • Muscle or joint pain of unknown origin; • Sinus problems (and heaviness in the head when bending down from a standing position); • Headache; • Gas, bloating; • Heartburn; • Decreased quality of sleep; • Absent-mindedness; • Reluctance to drink ordinary clean water; • Strong desire to eat any particular foods; • Skin problems (pimples, blackheads, etc.); • small wounds heal for a long time; • bad breath.

Vegetarian-friendly ancient Indian science of holistic health, Ayurveda, emphasizes the importance of a light detox in the spring. This is explained by the fact that a new biological cycle begins in our body in the spring, many cells are renewed. Spring is the perfect time for wellness activities such as dieting, cleansing, lighter and cleaner diets. How to conduct a “spring detox” correctly and without much stress?

Dr. Mike Hyman (Center for Life, USA) has come up with a number of simple and understandable recommendations for spring detoxification of the liver and the whole body as a whole (they should be followed for a month or a little more to get the best result):

1. Drink more pure mineral water (1.5-2 liters per day); 2. Allow yourself to get enough sleep and rest; 3. Do not bring yourself to a feeling of severe hunger, eat regularly; 4. Visit the sauna / bath; 5. Practice meditation and yogic (maximally deep and slow) breathing; 6. Eliminate white sugar, gluten-containing products, dairy products, white flour confectionery, caffeinated drinks and alcohol from your diet; 7. Keep a food journal and add to it the sensations from the consumption of different foods; 8. Do superficial self-massage with a brush with soft bristles; 9. Do a detox by holding a tablespoon of quality vegetable oil (such as coconut or olive) in your mouth daily for 5-15 minutes.

Dr. Hyman believes that everyone needs a spring detox: after all, even people who avoid unhealthy foods and generally eat a healthy and light diet occasionally indulge in “sweets” that are deposited in the body, and especially heavy burdens fall on the liver.

Especially often this can happen in winter – at the most uncomfortable time of the year, when we need “psychological support”, which is easiest to get thanks to sweets and other unhealthy products. Therefore, do not underestimate the importance of spring detox, the American doctor is sure.
