What is the use of “Smekty” for young children

“Smecta” can replace activated carbon, because it also belongs to the group of enterosorbents. The drug acts quickly and effectively. It also eliminates flatulence (increased gas production) and associated pain. But it is precisely because of pain in the tummy that babies often cry and cannot sleep. This drug protects the baby’s mucous membrane from the penetration of toxins into the intestines, and it also has an adsorbing effect. If an infant is diagnosed with esophagitis, gastritis, a gastroenterologist may prescribe “Smecta”. The drug is effective in treating diarrhea in newborns, since the substances included in the Smecta serve as a kind of barrier for pathogenic microorganisms.

As already mentioned, Smecta has no side effects, so parents can start treating a child with this drug on their own, without medical advice.

As a rule, “Smecta” is prescribed simultaneously with drugs that normalize the intestinal microflora; for example, with lactobacterin, bifidumbakerin and their analogues.
