😉 Greetings to everyone who came to this site! Gentlemen, in the city of Taganrog lives the Man of the Planet, whose name is entered in the Guinness Book of Records. In the article “Sergei Burlakov: Man of the Planet from Taganrog” – the story of an ordinary guy who, having got into a difficult situation, was able to survive spiritually and physically.
Sergey Burlakov
We have known Sergei Vladimirovich for twelve years. Each meeting with him brings joy, positive and energizes. He is the type of person who finds pluses in any situation.
This is an unusual person among ordinary people who proved to the whole planet that nothing is impossible, even if you have no arms or legs.
He was born on 26.05.1971/42/195, zodiac sign – Gemini, lives in the city of Taganrog. This is the first person in the world to win a marathon, running a distance of XNUMX km, XNUMX m on prostheses and receiving the title “Man of the Planet” for this.
Sergey divides his life into “before” and “after”. What divided his life in two happened in the army. He wanted to serve himself, did not run away from anyone, did not “mow down” from the army, unlike many conscripts.
Life after death
He ended up serving in the Trans-Baikal Military District. A year and a half passed quickly. 100 days before the “demobilization” all plans collapsed …
Winter, night. Sergei and the driver were driving in a UAZ car, following the order. And it so happened that the car fell down from a 15-meter cliff. The driver got out of the wrecked car and ran away, thinking that his colleague had died.
But Seryozha was alive, only he could not move because of the fractures. So he lay in the cold (minus 45 degrees) all night, from about 23 to 6 in the morning.
Women who were going to work accidentally noticed a car in a cliff, in which they found a 19-year-old guy with frostbitten limbs, a broken skull and broken ribs.
Doctors fought for his life for three days. Saved … True, at a considerable cost – Serega lost his arms and legs. Otherwise I would not have survived.
Later, in the hospital, Burlakov realized what had happened. When he was lying without arms and legs, he thought about many things and about how to live further: “It happened … so what? Is the man dead? No. The man is alive. He thinks, talks. There are physical limitations, nothing more. You have to live! ” And he began to get used to himself “new”.
Without arms and legs, but I could do everything
After returning from the army, he graduated from the Taganrog construction technical school (from where he was drafted into the army) and left for the city of Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region. A sports career began there.
First, athletics, swimming. Paralympic competition, first medals. And most importantly – victory over yourself! Burlakov thought little of himself, and constantly about others. Many people said: “Why do you need this? Stay at home, they will bring your pension ”.
General Viktor Kazantsev, the former plenipotentiary representative of the Russian Federation in the Southern Federal District, learned about Sergey’s active life, and invited him to work on the development of Paralympic sports in the Rostov region.
In 2003, the New York Marathon took place, one of the most spectacular and massive events in the world. Burlakov won this marathon, leaving 12 thousand healthy participants behind.
The marathon, 42 km long, 195 m lasted 6 hours, 51 minutes, there was a lot of sweat and blood. The Americans, standing, greeted the winner at the finish line, and the military saluted Sergey. In 2006 – Sergei Burlakov was a participant and organizer of the Moscow-Taganrog bike ride through Nizhny Novgorod.
In 2014, before the start of the Russian Olympic Paralympic Games, the Paralympic torch relay was held in Taganrog. There were 10 torchbearers in total, among whom was our hero.
At the age of 43, Sergei entered the Taganrog Institute of Management and Economics (TIUiE) at the Faculty of Personnel Management. This will come in handy in his subsequent projects.
Dreams Come True
The man of the planet independently flies on a hang glider. I had to make a special device for the hands. He knows how to steer a yacht and shoot great! Burlakov’s cherished dream is to travel around the world. In 2016, he continues to participate in marathons in Sochi, Yalta, Krasnodar. Triathlon competition is ahead.
Let’s conclude: the main thing in achieving the goal is not hands and feet, but desire. Goal setting and achievement. This was proved by Sergey Burlakov – a man pushing the boundaries of the possible. Take an example, gentlemen, and never give up!
This person, having survived a betrayal, a four-time amputation, proves not only to disabled people, but also to physically healthy people that life is wonderful. Indeed, often young and healthy people simply drink too much or kill themselves with drugs.
Sometimes beggars who have arms and legs ask Sergei for alms …
You can read more about the life of the Man of the Planet in his book Find Your Marathon. In the encyclopedia of Taganrog and, of course, in the article “Famous people of Taganrog”.
Sergey Burlakov: The Man of the Planet on January 29, 2019 won the sports Oscar in the USA. And this is just the beginning!
