It’s time for such superfoods as goji berries, acai, chia seeds to give up the palm to a new product – chokeberry.
Scientists at the Medical University of Lublin, Poland, have named chokeberry, also known as chokeberry, the new superfood of 2019.
Why is chokeberry useful?

Healthy berries are not afraid of heat treatment
Aronia berries are very tart, so eating them raw is very problematic. Scientists were worried whether the berries would lose their beneficial properties during heat treatment – and conducted an experiment. They cooked chokeberry corn porridge and found that the nutritional value of the dish did not deteriorate during cooking, despite the high temperature.
On the contrary, the more chokeberry berries were added to the porridge (the highest berry content was 20%), the more useful and nutritious the dish was.
This fact makes black chokeberry an especially attractive product for people who follow a healthy lifestyle, since the antioxidant properties of many fruits and vegetables are significantly reduced when heated or oxidized during heat treatment.
According to the researchers, the best time to eat porridge with chokeberry is 10 minutes after its preparation, since it is at this time that the ability of the fruit to cleanse the body of free radicals is highest.
