- the doctor removes the bandage and observes its appearance;
- the doctor then carefully examines the wound to ensure that it is healing well and that there are no signs of infection;
- the wound is then cleaned and largely disinfected using tampons without pressing, from the least contaminated area to the most contaminated, that is to say from the incision to the surrounding skin with as many tampons as it is necessary ;
- once the wound is completely dry, the staple remover is then introduced between the skin under the center of the staple in order to fold it in the middle by the movement of the forceps and lift the claws out of the skin;
- delicately, each clip is thus folded and gently lifted to maintain it at 90 ° relative to the epidermal surface;
- the two branches of the staple remover are then gently tightened so as to reopen the staple, then to withdraw it delicately and entirely, in order to minimize the discomfort for the patient and to reduce the risk of skin trauma;
- the operation is repeated until all the staples are removed;
- the wound is again extensively cleaned, disinfected and evaluated;
- if necessary, each clip is replaced as and when using a sterile adhesive strip;
- to avoid any infection, a dressing is applied to the wound at the end of the removal of all the staples, ensuring that the adhesive part conforms to the folds of the skin;
- the wound can also be left in the air depending on the context and medical indications.
