How to plant a variety of raspberries “Ruby necklace”
Bushes should be planted in fall or spring. This is done like this:
- Find a sunny, warm, draft-free location. It is advisable to plant the plant on the south side of the site. You can do this near buildings, but so that the shadow does not fall on the bushes.
- 14 days before planting, dig a hole 45 cm deep and 60 cm wide.If you plan to grow several bushes, then the distance between the holes should be at least 1 m, and between the rows – about 2 m.
- Apply organic fertilizers to the soil. For example, use 2 buckets of peat, 1 liter of wood ash and 30 g of Kemira Universal.
- Place the seedling in the hole, cover it with earth and water the top layer well.
Thus, planting occurs in the spring.
In the autumn, you need to plant seedlings in open ground before the onset of frost. This is necessary so that the seedling has time to gain strength, and the root system develops to the cold.
Caring for this type of raspberry differs little from other varieties. Water the bush regularly at the root, with a lack of moisture, the crop will be small. Weed the soil and gently loosen the soil to a depth of about 5 cm to avoid damaging the roots. Tie tall bushes to a support so that the branches do not break from abundant fruits.
In order to retain moisture, you can mulch the soil with peat and humus.
Thin branches in early November. Remove shoots that bore fruit in summer and damaged parts at the root. In the spring, cut 15 cm from the top of the branches.
In the first year, feed the raspberries with nitrogen fertilizers. In the summer, use complex fertilizing, and in the 2-3rd year, apply mineral fertilizers. Do not forget to hide raspberries under a dark film for the winter to protect them from frost.
Follow these simple rules when growing raspberries, and the next year it will have fruits.
